Bewitched
Painting on Paperback book. Bewitched is an example of French's Cartland Series from 2006 to present. Bewitched take the title from the book whose cover he erases. This creates a strange relationship between image and object, the painting attempting to be aspiring to be romantic in the way a Barbara Cartland novel appeals to the writers aspirations of fanciful love. The piece is displayed in a clear acrylic case for wall mounting as opposed to when they are exhibited, which is directly onto the gallery wall.
